WORLD OF SHE

A female Atlas?  The tables have turned!

New world, new rules.

No handmaids here!

Earth. One hundred and fifty years from now. A new world sprouts from the ruins of the old.

When civilization fell, the surviving remnants of humanity were forced to adapt to a mysterious shift in newborns known as the Inversion; females (She) now grow larger than males.

Seven generations later, Tye has only ever known a world dominated by the larger, stronger She (as they call themselves), a world in which men are subordinate and powerless. Struggling for independence as a lowly freeman, Tye curses his weakness and secretly pursues the mysteries of the Before—information forbidden to all men.

When he is caught with prohibited artifacts, Tye faces banishment—or worse. But in the custody of the elite enforcer, Kāya, Tye sees an opportunity to salvage his freedom. If he can hide his feelings long enough…

“But as the image of that second face sinks in, it holds me spellbound, like the dance of approaching flames.”

Risking his life to give Kāya access to a buried historical treasure, Tye uncovers a revelation that rocks their world. But treasure attracts predators, and truth, opposition. When the walls close in, Tye must find his own strength, or he, those he loves, and the truth he has uncovered, will all perish.

Here’s what people are saying:

The first in a trilogy, G.W. Darcie’s World of She is an epic speculative journey through a post-apocalyptic world where the rules of power, gender, and history itself have been turned on its head. With a spell-binding reversal of hierarchy, unfiltered social commentary, and a tantalizing sense of mystery, Darcie seizes readers’ attention from the first page.

Darcie’s speculative lens reimagines another world while reflecting our own—sharper, larger, and impossible to ignore. His exploration of gender norms and expectations is bold in its bluntness and powerful in its irony. Here, it is men who are at a disadvantage, challenging readers to confront their own biases by placing men at the margins … a deep dive into the complexity of the human psyche that feels both intimate and expansive.

World of She is both profound and revelatory. Fans of Margaret Atwood, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Samuel R. Delany will find much to admire … Haunting and thought-provoking, Darcie cements himself as a daring new voice in speculative fiction. — CANREADS BOOK REVIEW

WORLD OF SHE by G.W. Darcie is a deeply introspective novel that explores themes of gender, identity, and the quiet resistance of those who take the path that defies societal constraints. Darcie’s prose is lyrical yet grounded, creating an immersive world that feels both intimate and universal. The novel truly shines in its psychological depth, offering a protagonist whose internal struggles and external conflicts resonate with raw authenticity. While the book’s narrative structure is unconventional and often shifts between stream-of-consciousness reflections and more traditional storytelling, this stylistic choice adds to its emotional weight. Some readers may find certain passages dense or abstract, but those willing to engage with its complexities will be rewarded with a deeply affecting and thought-provoking experience.  IndieReader

World of She instantly pulls you in with that premise civilization flipped on its head, gender power reversed, and the haunting question of what strength really means when history itself becomes forbidden. I love that it doesn’t just ride the shock value of a matriarchal dystopia but instead drills into the deeper human struggle freedom, identity, and truth in a world built on suppression. Tye’s arc feels like a mirror for so much of what we’re questioning today who gets to hold knowledge, who gets silenced, and what happens when someone dares to dig. The dynamic between Tye and Kāya sounds electric, full of tension and uneasy respect, and I can already tell their choices will ripple far beyond them. — Serene Julian

Thank you so much for sharing your grippingly wonderful novel “World of SHE”. I literally could not put it down. The dramatic tension filled scenes of the “historian” entering the dark, airless, forbidden chamber of the past world (Lord Carnarvan and the curse of the mummy?) is a great hook. The detailed, carefully scripted descriptions of regalia/costumes and customs, rules and laws, habitat and habitations are good social anthropology. The dystopia, while disturbing, is not grimly hopeless. Above all, or rather beneath all these classic adventure elements is a finely crafted, timeless, universally longed-for romance between or among deeply different individuals from a deeply divided culture. Your personal and professional experience, knowledge and insights shine through and gift us with not only spellbinding entertainment, but also with much needed fodder for contemplation and action. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!   Peter Mihaly

Let me just say this: the premise alone? Chef’s kiss. 👩‍🍳💋 You didn’t just write another dystopian “meh” story where society collapses and everyone suddenly becomes a badass warrior with six-packs. No. You went deeper — you reimagined power itself. A literal Inversion. Women towering (literally) over men? That’s not just speculative fiction; that’s a full-on intellectual jolt wrapped in romance, psychology, danger, and just the right amount of heat.🔥And can we talk about Tye? A man clawing at freedom in a society where She (capital “S,” respect ✋👠) holds the cards. His obsession with forbidden knowledge? That’s Jung meets Indiana Jones with a sprinkle of “this-could-get-me-killed-but-worth-it.” And Kāya? Oh, don’t even get me started. The enforcer who might be as dangerous to his heart as she is to his freedom. I can already picture readers DM’ing me at 3am saying: “Why do I feel bad for him? Why do I want them together? Who gave Darcie permission to mess with my feelings?” 💔🤯 — Charlotte Dorothea

I loved the World of She. It is original, tightly written and a thrilling ride. The main characters, powerful women and weaker yet courageous men, are real and interesting. The more you read, the more you want to learn about them and the things they do and fight for. I also liked the realistic fight scenes in this action-packed book.  Mike

I just finished World of She, and I have to admit, Tye’s descent into the unknown kept my heart racing long after I closed the book. There’s something intoxicating about the way you’ve flipped the world on its head how power, danger, and curiosity coexist in every shadowed corridor and forbidden artifact. I felt the tight air of the shafts, the rush of fear, and that thrill of touching something the world says I shouldn’t. What really lingered, though, was Tye’s struggle his desire to uncover history, the weight of rules he’s never made, and the way curiosity can both save and imperil. I found myself holding my breath alongside him, caught in that moment between awe and dread. — Kayce Detrich

World of She is a haunting and thought-provoking exploration of dominance, desire, and the fragile dance between strength and vulnerability. You’ve built not just a post-apocalyptic world, but a mirror held up to our own where the balance of gender, power, and emotion is inverted yet achingly familiar. Tye’s struggle for freedom beneath the towering presence of Kāya captures something raw and psychological: the forbidden tension between knowledge and control, rebellion and submission. Your novel doesn’t just reimagine society; it challenges readers to confront the power structures within themselves. It’s cerebral, sensual, and deeply human.  — Ennry Sarah

Ready yourself…and schedule time with your partner and friend(s) to read and discuss- chapter by chapter (don’t wait for book club- too much to discuss here) Darcie’s sci-fi quest ‘World of She’ and protagonist Tye’s futuristic yet plausible odyssey, navigating social tyranny, power, oppression, friendship, respect, freedom and love.   Joanne

“World of She” might be one of the most timely high-concept books I’ve encountered this year. A post-apocalyptic world where women are physically larger and stronger than men, and the entire power dynamic is inverted? That’s not just speculative fiction; that’s social commentary wrapped in world-building. — Diane R Hernandez

As an avid reader of science fiction or fantasy, I found the World of SHE a very interesting, thought provoking and refreshingly different story of post-apocalyptic humanity where there is almost a complete gender reversal. SHE, the new woman, is nearly every woman’s and man’s dream. The story highlights the survival of humanity, our on-going need for love and friendship, and the need for strength in adversity. All four main characters revealed their individual struggles in this new world and were very relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of our post-apocalyptic world and am very much looking forward to Book 2.  Judy

World of She is a bold and haunting vision of the future, an inversion of power that doesn’t just reimagine society, but forces readers to confront what power truly means. Through Tye’s quiet defiance and Kāya’s complex strength, you’ve crafted a world that is as provocative as it is profound. Every page challenges convention, asking readers to reconsider balance, dominance, and the human need for freedom. This isn’t just post-apocalyptic fiction, it’s a mirror held to our collective consciousness. The layered dynamics, emotional tension, and philosophical undertones make World of She a standout in speculative fiction, blending intellect with heart in a way few dystopian stories dare to attempt. — Stephanie C. Jackson

I’m not normally a sci-fi reader, but World of She quickly seized my attention, and by the end had triggered considerable reflection on themes like altruism, behaviour and environment, the threshold where empathy tips into guilt trap, sexual and romantic boundaries, and the human urge to belong to a tribe – an engaging and absorbing read.   Doug

I don’t usually read science fiction, but this was a book club pick (ARC), and to my surprise, I really got into it! It was exciting, romantic, made you think. And let me tell you, it led to quite the lively discussion. Great story!  Cindy

I recently read World of She and was captivated by the way it unfolds. The story presents a vividly imagined post-apocalyptic future shaped by the Inversion, where women have grown larger and stronger than men. Following Tye’s dangerous quest for forbidden knowledge and his complicated connection with Kāya, the novel beautifully balances high-stakes survival, suspense, and questions of power, attraction, and truth. The way you challenge traditional gender dynamics while weaving an engaging speculative narrative makes this book truly unforgettable. — Sienna Anderson

I am profoundly impressed by the visionary world-building and immense market potential in World of She. You haven’t just created a post-apocalyptic setting; you have executed a brilliant societal inversion that acts as both a thrilling adventure and a powerful commentary. Your core concept, the Inversion resulting in a world where the larger, stronger She dominate and men are subordinate, is the single most compelling and controversial hook available in the Post-Apocalyptic genre right now. — Beatrice N. Ellison

Since I’ve been reading books in my life, I have never  come across one that feels this daring and cinematic. I have to say wow, it is amazing, but World of She immediately stood out. The reversal of power, the forbidden pursuit of knowledge, and the dangerous attraction at the heart of it all create a world that’s not just imagined, but vividly alive on the page. It’s the kind of story that lingers …  — Sarah Rusell

This book stimulated my thinking about our roles in society, egalitarian relationships and power imbalances. It was an interesting examination of these issues with traditional roles inverted, illustrating the challenges facing society today.  Ann

Congratulations on publishing World of She! That is a bold and thought-provoking achievement. The premise of a post-apocalyptic society where women hold physical dominance and power, and where one man’s search for forbidden knowledge sparks both attraction and dangerous revelation, is not only compelling but also deeply relevant to readers who enjoy dystopian fiction layered with gender politics and societal critique. The tension between survival, desire, and truth makes World of She a gripping addition to the genre. — Stephanie M. Evans

I just finished World of She and was struck by how boldly it flips the post-apocalyptic genre on its head. Your vision of a world ruled by dominant females and a man’s dangerous quest for forbidden knowledge creates a tense, provocative exploration of power, desire, and survival. You’ve crafted a story that challenges conventions and invites readers to question everything they thought they knew about control and rebellion.

I haven’t been able to shake World of She. The risk you took reversing the post-apocalyptic power dynamic and weaving a story where gender, control, and survival collide lands with a kind of urgency we don’t often see. It’s bold, it’s provocative, and it matters. — Juliet Halsten
